HAL successfully tests Light Utility Helicopter


Giving a boost, Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL) successfully completed the first test flight of its Light Utility Helicopters (LUH) on 6th Sep 2016.

LUH is designed to replace the ageing Chetak Helicopters of the armed forces. The LUH is the third in HAL 's line-up of helicopters and joins the Dhruv and Light Combat Helicopter.



The HAL LUH is a 3 - tonne helicopter exclusively built for the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force, having a requirement of 384 helicopters.

Empty weight of HAL is 1910 Kg, having 2 Crew and up to 6 passengers capacity. Fuel consumption is 0.69 kg/km with cruising speed of 220 km/h and 7.5 m/s rate of climbs.
