India, France ink deal for 36 Rafale fighter worth $8.9 Billion


India and France finally signed the $8.9 Billion deal for 36 Rafale fighter jets capable of carrying nuclear weapons and equipped with latest missiles.

"India & France signed the deal for 36 Rafale Jets. Rafale will significantly improve India's strike & Defence capabilities". Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Twitter.

These combat aircraft will come equipped with state-of-the-art missiles like 'Meteor' and 'Scalp'. The range of Beyond Visual Range (BVR) Meteor air-to-air missile is 150 km and the range of Rafale is 780-1055 Km, far better than Su-30.
