Indian Navy got 'TIHAYU' from GRSE


Fast attack craft is small, fast, agile and offensive warship armed with anti-ship missile, gun and torpedoes.

Water Jet Fast Attack Craft (WJFAC) being built for the Indian Navy by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) was launched on 30th June 2016 at Raja Bagan Dockyard, Kolkata.



GRSE handed over the WJFAC-'TIHAYU' to Indian Navy on 30 Aug 2016. The warship was handed over by Rear Admiral (Retd.) A K Verma, Chairman and Managing Director, GRSE to Commanding Officer of the ship Cdr. Ajay Koshav, at the ceremony held in GRSE.



The fast attack craft,"TIHAYU" is named after an island in the Andaman. It is fitted with CRN-91 indigenous 30 mm gun to provide artillery fire support during attack missions. The 48 m long vessel has a displacement of around 315 tons and is designed for maximum speed of 35 Knots. It can accommodate 29 personnel on board.
